X Input Redirection

One remaining problem is mouse (and other) input redirection; Keith Packard has an archtecture which 'should' work, but at present hasn't put it on his schedule. It would be great to discuss this further, identify any potential issues with the proposed architecture, and see if someone wants to take it on. It is a self-contained challenge that will unlock very powerful application and system capabilities.

2007-08-17 bryce: From the description, it's a bit ambiguous, however I believe this input hotplug architecture is now implemented in xserver 1.4, which is scheduled for Gutsy+1.

2008-04-25 bryce: We tested Xinput during Hardy development, but it wasn't mature enough, so postponed it. Probably will go in for Intrepid.
