ToriOS Official Logo

Registered by amjjawad 

This is a new blueprint for the 'official Logo' of Tori鳥OS because this is a very important topic that we need to discuss separately.

The other blueprint:
https://blueprints.launchpad.net/torios/+spec/torios-artwork
Will depend on this one not the other way around.

Again, this is ONLY to discuss about the official Logo, no more and no less.

This official Logo will be used everywhere. This logo will represent Tori鳥OS Project.

=========
Logo Text
=========
* The Text on our Logo is: "Tori鳥OS "
*** This is what I have in mind and I don't really want to use anything but this text: Tori鳥OS ***

=============
HOWTO do this
=============
Because no matter how hard we will try to express our opinion with words, we shall fail in one way or another so as everyone may know, a picture speaks louder than 1000 words. That said, instead of 'words', we do need to submit our proposal for the logo. It is very easy to submit 'your final suggestion HERE' ... while ... you can share your draft work on the 'mailing list'.

===========
Requirement
===========
1- KISS (Keep It Simple and Short) - this is what this project is all about. We don't need fancy Logos ;)
2- The Text on our Logo is: "Tori鳥OS " - of course, without " " :)
3- You need to work on SVG files - you can submit the PNG file but please keep the SVG file with you in case we shall need it later (for me, I do need a copy of that anyway).

Whiteboard

[amjjawad] I know the first design that I made, which is on the www.torios.org for now, is using the light blue colour but I'd be very careful with blue. Despite the fact that it is one of my favourite and it is great colour but almost all Ubuntu Official Variants are using Blue (Xubuntu, Lubuntu, Ubuntu GNOME, Kubuntu and Ubuntu Studio). I don't really know if it is great idea to use blue? yes, the current blue is different but still blue :)

What is the colour that represent: Freedom? Simplicity?

[israeldahl] I agree that blue might be a bit overdone (don't forget XP using it in the panel and window decorations), I had assumed it was the 'official' color.
It seems blue and grey are both over used colors.
something that would stand out more is using the opposite side (like yellow.... ubuntu uses orange)
Yellow stand out and is vibrant. This avoids the major colors *most* use. Turmeric is a great yellow color and very healthy for you :)
I started posting some logo ideas to the ToriOS forum. Some do not have the Japanese character, but, that was before I read this page :( They have a torii...
WE need to decide what FONT we will use for the logo text/DE/etc....

[zleap] Also consider what it looks like in greyscale, for the manual I made the logo greyscale so it would save on ink during printing, also it means that if the whole book is like that inc internal screendumps then it is consistant, and may be cheaper to print for people in general.

[amjjawad] Yes, we need to decide which font and which colours but IMHO, the most important thing now is to have a design. I just pinged Rafael yet again and will keep nagging until the design is done :D hehe

[amjjawad] Special thanks to Rafael for everything he has done so far. It is really great to have someone highly skilled and talented like him on our side :D

So, the plan now is:

Have a Logo > Agree/Vote on the design of the Logo > Agree/Vote on the colors used on that Logo > Think about the colors/theme for our website > worry then about how the system will look like (which is the lowest priority for now)

I shall update the Work Items to reflect the new plan :)

Thank you!
