Bug Description

Since last week tried to add lucid-bleed ppa to my repository. But for some reason I am getting error message that the key is not found.
Below the log of the message:

htjioe@lenow500-h2t:~$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:lucid-bleed/ppa
[sudo] password for htjioe:
Executing: gpg --ignore-time-conflict --no-options --no-default-keyring
--secret-keyring /etc/apt/secring.gpg --trustdb-name
/etc/apt/trustdb.gpg --keyring /etc/apt/trusted.gpg --primary-keyring
/etc/apt/trusted.gpg --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv
8997B7E84F8C59212829643BEC7B7B7D4439DBD6
gpg: requesting key 4439DBD6 from hkp server keyserver.ubuntu.com
gpgkeys: HTTP fetch error 7: couldn't connect to host
gpg: no valid OpenPGP data found.
gpg: Total number processed: 0

Is it a known issue or do I done something wrong here?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hok Hie

This command works for me. keyserver.ubuntu.com may have been down, or there were networking issues between you and that server. This is not an issue with Launchpad's servers.

Changed in launchpad:
status: New → Incomplete
status: Incomplete → Invalid

Do you normally have to use an http proxy?

I think the underlying bug here is bug 712812.

@UBNewbie, could you please past the output of

  sudo sh -c 'echo $http_proxy'

Hi Martin,

I don't use any http proxy connection. It is direct link behind a cisco router.
And I had disable the firewall of the router and it work without any problem after the first feedback that I had from launchpad.

It is however quit strange because this is the first time that I had problem downloading a pgp key. My firewall settings are not change for a long time.

If you wish I can send you your request about the $http_proxy parameter.

Hok Hie,

No, I don't need the proxy setting.

I guess this was either a problem with your firewall or a transient network problem. If this is now working for you it's probably not a Launchpad bug.
