Digikam transition is currently blocked due to a broken gcc-4.7. You can find the relevant build logs here:

Does this mean we will not see digiKam 2.6.0 in Kubuntu 12.04?

1. The gcc bug is now fixed: http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=53599 (but probably not yet in Quantal)
2. @Ben: 12.04 has been released already and is unlikely to get a new upstream release. You would have to use a PPA or something similar. Kubuntu might provide the update via its PPAs anyway.

That being said, I am just in the process of grabbing the source from Rohan's PPA (where the build logs are referring to) and will upload it to my PPA, effectively backporting it for Ubuntu Precise (it might show up here then: https://launchpad.net/~blueyed/+archive/ppa).

Hi!
I completely forgot about this, sorry.
I've pushed the latest packaging to https://code.launchpad.net/~kubuntu-packagers/kubuntu-packaging/digikam
The packaging has just one caveat, there are a couple of icons like imgur's logo that I don't install at the moment ( Neither does debian ). I'm assuming this is due to copyright issues, but haven't looked into it alot.

Rohan, libvkontakte is missing locales, so libvkontakte-data should be dropped (i'm refering to the packaging at bazaar, not your built digikam). Otherwise it builds fine on Precise:

Alright, I'll fix this in the packaging and upload it to quantal tonight!

Make sure that gcc has been fixed in Quantal already - I have seen an upload the other days which forced usage of gcc-4.6 to work around this (or another) bug.

Rohan, this ain't a killer (i don't know does anyone uses vkontakte), but also libkvkontakte1 shouldn't depend on libkvkontakte-data

Sigh, I completely overlooked that

I'm also going to upload a backported digkam to Kubuntu Backports ( https://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-ppa/+archive/backports )

Testing would appreciated.
