NOTE FOR ALL: If any game has a missing FFmpeg/multimedia dependency (ie. libfluidsynth3 needed by ScummVM) then first add the FFmpeg PPA as shown:

  sudo add-apt-repository ppa:savoury1/ffmpeg4
  sudo add-apt-repository ppa:savoury1/games
  sudo apt-get update

Notes for Xenial & Bionic: Latest MAME requires GCC >= 10 to build and run so an additional GCC PPA must be added before installation. You can choose a PPA with GCC binaries only, or a PPA that also sets system defaults to a newer GCC version. Any GCC >= 10 works fine, ie. GCC 11, 12, or 13 can be used in place of GCC 10. So change "gcc-10" in command listed below to one of those versions (ie. "gcc-11") if a newer GCC than 10 is desired. Also, for GCC defaults change "gcc" to "gcc-defaults" (ie. "gcc-defaults-10" is the PPA for GCC 10 including setting system defaults to the new version):

  sudo add-apt-repository ppa:savoury1/gcc-10
  sudo add-apt-repository ppa:savoury1/games
  sudo apt-get update

Latest chiaki requires Qt >= 5.12 so the builds here are with Qt 5.15.x at ppa:savoury1/qt-5-15 and this version is required to run. Upgrading the Qt stack is a relatively major system change so make sure you want to do this before proceeding. If so carefully follow instructions at the Qt 5.15 PPA:

This PPA has build dependencies on:

Additionally, for MAME builds only:

Additionally, for Xenial only:

  ppa:savoury1/toolchain

Note: Only MAME builds use ppa:savoury1/{python,inkscape} PPAs, due a BD on python3-sphinxcontrib.svg2pdfconverter to create docs (and this Python package has a BD on inkscape). Neither PPA is required for installation.
