Nautilus Improved for Trusty, Xenial
PPA description
*Make sure to upgrade all your nautilus packages*
After updating either reboot/log out/in or restart nautilus
Inc. these patches + any bug fixes that matter on trusty 14.04 or xenial 16.04. 16.04 patches used are listed below the main descriptions.
no_me1.patch - returns displayed owner to actual name
open-with1.patch -returns open with on folders
pkexec2.patch, (16.04 - use nautilus-admin package instead) - installs a pkexec policy for a root nautilus browser
- use by going pkexec nautilus
(- preferred method is from a run dialog, alt+F2 in unity
revert-canvas-view-hover.patch - reverts auto open folder on DnD hover in canvas view, all other hover auto opens are retained
sidebar-width.patch - not that important, used for add. users
default-win-size.patch - not that important, used for add. users
name.patch - changes unity launcher name to File Manager
toolbar5.patch - adds an up button to toolbar
date-time.patch -
- adding option in *list view* for full date-time timestamp thru the "Modified (full)" column

git_properties_window_set_max_width_for_value_labels.patch - not that important, set max-width for value labels
git_name_column.patch -
- nautilus-list-view: Avoid unreadable names
Currently if the view is resized, the column name is resized as well
given that uses ellipsization allowing the column to become unreadable.
To avoid that, use width-chars property to set a desired width, but at
the same time allowing the user to resize without limits the name column
if desired.
details.patch -
Add a new column "Type (detailed)" to give detailed mime info

pkexec2.patch - removed, use nautilus-admin package instead.

Plus:
expand_filename_on_hover.patch -
shows file file name on hover rather than crappy new method that requires a click to show full name
Dnd_desktop_link_file_fix.patch -
Allows repositioning of link files on Desktop
Reverting ppa:
Install ppa-purge
run this command, when done reboot
sudo ppa-purge ppa:mc3man/nauty-hacks1
Adding this PPA to your system
You can update your system with unsupported packages from this untrusted PPA by adding ppa:mc3man/nauty-hacks1 to your system's Software Sources. (Read about installing)
