steamcmd-dl
PPA description
Download Windows versions of Steam games on linux.
This PPA contains a package called 'steamcmddl'.
To install it, add this ppa to your system like so: "sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ev1l0rd/steamcmddl"
Then run: 'sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install steamcmddl'
Afterwards you can run 'steamcmddl' to get started. If this is the first time you launch the program, steamcmddl will download SteamCMD to .steamcmddl before running. (Only needed on systems before 16.04)
Systems on 16.04+ will require steamcmd to be installed alongside this package (should be handled automatically).
The script will ask for your username and the appid to download. Appids can be found on http://steamdb.info. If you have already signed in to steam before (using the normal steam package) you only have to provide your username. Otherwise you will need to enter your password after you enter your appid (doesn't use a nice dialog atm). Steam Guard will also email you if it is the first time you login on the pc/have to use the authenticator.
Games will be saved to '~/steamcmddl/<appid>'. All downloaded games have a steamapps folder in them. It is safe to remove this folder.
This script does not work with games you don't own. It also doesn't work with any game that requires the steam DRM to function.
You need to provide your own simulation software to play anything you've downloaded. wine and mono are examples of what you can use.
If you run in issues, don't report them on Launchpad. Report them on my GitHub instead: https://github.com/ev1l0rd/steamcmddl
A deb variant of this package (which also has older versions!) is available on https://github.com/ev1l0rd/steamcmddl/releases .
