xsane has a convoluted, non user-friendly interface

Registered by Brett Alton

Scanning is in dire need of reshaping in Ubuntu. Scanning is almost as common as printing as most printers are now sold as a "all-in-one" printer/copier/scanner. Scanning simply has to work. A simple GTK+ application is need to scan images for ALL printers, whether it's HP, Brother, Canon, Dell, etc. and will install the proper libraries needed. i.e.: http://solutions.brother.com/linux/sol/printer/linux/sane_drivers.html

Suggested that this be integrated with the new specification of printerdrake.
