Change template after assigning to layout

Once I've created a layout and picked a template to base it on there appears to be no way to alter this template at a later date? So if I start of with a 16:9 then discover my display needs 16:10 I have to start the design again?

That would be reasonable if we locked the regions if you use a template - but we don't.
In your case, you'd just edit the background properties and choose the 16:10 aspect ratio, then move/change your regions to fit the extra space.
