from thesherpa Aug 10, 2014: "i dont think pos is proven yet long enough, and have seen plenty of low adoption pos networks attacked (coin2 among others though xlc, lcl,xbc could have easily been attacked) i think you could run into an issue if GES niers hold coins as they could easily end up with 51%. the positive side for pos adoption is that the currently network mining would be set statically at near (300 per coin for 288 coins per day or) ~86,400 usd worth of hash hashing that ammt in coins mined per day. that means it would only ever cost 86000 per day to attack this coin. if people dropped off as profitability dropped while someone ramped up an attack, it could be as low as 43000 to do a 51%. side note* I also have seen no problem with the high value coin networks which are pos yet."
also to be fair anyone who is using it as a futures mechanism would probably be very exited to gain interest % on their stake. and it may be easy to convince a business using uro to leave an open wallet running to help our network. this rewards theusers and not the miners"
