Disable auto-updates for audio work

Registered by Ross Gammon

For audio work is best to disable background tasks, and therefore it might be a good idea to disable automatic checking for updates as default to Ubuntu Studio. This probably has to be done in Gnome Software.
Or perhaps the reverse is best - provide a way for it to be disabled for audio work in ubuntustudio-controls.
In addition to this, regular updating can cause many old kernels to collect (possibly causing issues with the efi boot partition filling up). Is there a way to easily clean up & remove old kernels? Would it be possible to include ubuntu-tweak (or replicate what it does) to do this?
