XOrg Config UI

Registered by KillerKiwi

There are parts of the X server configuration which users want to be able to modify, but there is no way to change them in the desktop. Video mode selection in particular is covered elsewhere (simple-x-mode-selection), but other cases such as multi-head, input devices and keyboard layout should be addressed.

Whiteboard

Note that the most important bit of this (mode selection) is covered by simple-x-mode-selection -mdz, 2006-10-27

I've looked at this in suse 10.1 and it seems nice enough, but I'd like to hear input from Keith et al about whether this is the right solution -mdz, 2006-10-27

Keithp is looking for a simple solution. Spec has been rewritten to look at options - Corey Burger

Bumped to essential for scheduling purposes since Keithp is only here tomorrow -mdz

drafter unset for scheduling purposes, was rodarvus -mdz, 2006-11-09

deferred for feisty+1. reason being we'll be able to use X.Org 7.3 directly, making this effort basically worthless for feisty.

This is a dupe of the DisplayConfigGTK spec - bryce 2007-05-31

 * 2007-08-17 bryce: The functionality (monitor+device configuration) described in the attached wiki page is now implemented via DisplayConfigGtk. We do not yet have a GUI for configuring the input devices, keyboard, or other options, so this spec in wiki could be rewritten to focus specifically on those items.
