Allow to resume from S3/S4 states by network or keyboard/mouse events

Currently, if my computer goes into stand-by state while running Ubuntu, the only way to restore it back is pushing the Power button. It is possible to make wake on lan (or keyboard/mouse) work by sending strings to the /proc/acpi/wakeup file, but this is neither generic or user-friendly. I believe it would be ideal to have an option, probably on gnome-power-manager settings, for enabling wake on lan or wake on keyboard/mouse event.
