Update-manager should have a "run updates in background" mode so that you can continue working without multiple interuptions.
Update-manager should have a "run updates in background" mode so that you can continue working without multiple interruptions. Normally when you click the "updates available" icon in the task bar it pops up a window which you have to then wait for to refresh, then you click confirm then you get another window that must load etc etc.. then at the end the first window pops up again just so you can close it (it doesn't contain any further useful information).
This is not optimal, an alternative would be displaying a "run updates in background" option on right click of the update notification icon. When selected, the only thing you should see is a password request then a message in the notification area telling you that updates have been applied. Any important messages (accepting java licence for example) can issue a "update-manager: your attention is required" notice in the notification area.
