Automatically cleaning the APT cache after update

It would be nice if the graphical update-manager runs an "apt-get autoclean" after updating.
Lots of users will not know what to do when they start finding themselves running out of disk space.

Is this really wise? If someone does an update/upgrade then finds their machine can no longer get on the network as a result (maybe network-manager broken) then they have no way to reinstall the older version of the package (which would normally still be hanging around in the cache). Maybe a better proposal would be "make update manager display how much space is taken up by the apt cache, and have a button for clearing it".
