Adding a visually appealing window named "Welcome to Ubuntu" or wathever, containing shortcuts, screencasts, links to help pages, and short introduction to the main Ubuntu features could be a great help for beginners, and could really add some value for business customers, making the whole distro more appealing and integrated.

This is a good idea and I believe that it may help beginners to Ubuntu and Linux as a whole.
Maybe this should be as part of the live cd to appear the first time that users run Ubuntu and maybe make it optional after that.
