Integrate IRC with online help and crash reports
One great aspect of Ubuntu is its community, with users who are willing to help each other without just telling them to RTFM. My experience with the Ubuntu IRC channel on Freenode has been very positive in this aspect. However, that channel is hard to come by for a total newbie. This blueprint aims to remedy that.
Initially, this can be done in two simple ways:
1) Change the "Get help online" behavior to opening a dialog box with two buttons to pick from: Live help (Chat), and Web help (Browser). Of course, explanations would be given as to what each option means.
2) Add a "Get live help" button to the crash report app.
In both cases the live help button would open Pidgin (or the user's default IRC app) in the appropriate language Ubuntu channel.
