Allow Ubuntu to deliver a more touchscreen-focused interface

There is currently no operating system for the desktop which is optimized for touch or pen input. Most of the time touch or pen input extends about as far as device support, but that's it. What is really needed is a redesign of the desktop metaphor, or a completely new metaphor altogether. This includes design tasks such as making interface elements bigger and easier to touch/tap, and minimizing text input (focus on gestures and buttons/menus).
