The first time ubuntu logs-in,could do a general assistant.

First time it logins could be screen resolution,followed by a network asssitant to assist you if you dont have internet,if yes advise you all is ok.

Next step scan the hardware and see if all was detected correctly,if not,make option to download the driver,and inform the user witch program you can manage to use the feature of that hardware(for example tv card,wireless managing...),and give the install option.

When finished ubuntu tells the user that is fully fuctional and its ready to be used.
