New option in Ubuntu installer

Registered by Ubunter

Please make an option in Ubuntu installer that GRUB can be installed in the first sector of the boot partition.

This is useful if you have, say, Windows installed and want to make a dual-boot Windows & Ubuntu and prefer NTLDR (Windows boot loader) instead. You can copy the first 512 bytes of data of that boot partition that GRUB resides on with bootpart.exe and add the line C:/WINDOWS/linux.bin="Ubuntu" to boot.ini (if you made a file named linux.bin and put it in the directory C:/WINDOWS). You then have an option in NTLDR (Windows boot loader) to either boot to Windows or Ubuntu.

Please make an option in Ubuntu installer to put GRUB in the first sector of the boot partition. The 'Advanced Options' window in step 7 of 7 of Ubuntu installation should be changed and two option buttons should be made in 'Advanced Options' window: 'Install GRUB on MBR (master boot record)' and 'Install GRUB in first sector of boot partition'
