Lets put a better art (wallpapers, icons, fonts) in our Ubuntu
Well, i think that the Ubuntu need a better visual art. The wallpapers, colors, icons etc, year by year have good increases, but havent a great visual impact (or concept) in the users. Its so abstract wallpapers (brown, orange, purple...), some normal icons and pointers.
The visual of desktop is the first thing that we see and make some comments around the world. Its a important question and need a different approach.
My propose is: the ubuntu team may articulate with the GAIA project (http://
The Ubuntu's apparency (wallpapers, cursors, music, icons), with this attitude, will have a real theme. Ubuntu is a "african word", its a open-software. Why dont to be the first Operational System with a social/
Im not a greenpeacer, "wwfer" or something like this. But, the "apparency outsourcing", adopted with quality works in Gaia project and a actual and impactor subject...well.. im thinking it will can be a great promotional marketing, no? AND the theme will have a good visual (the colours and arts in Gaia Project are so good, so harmonious).
Look the Gaia project sites, they have a great cause and many portfolios, with linux "products":
2010 - http://
2009 - http://
2008 - http://
And you can see some linux desktops works, with the gaia project themes (have Emerald, GTK, openbox, pekwm, icons, cursors etc):

my desktop and notebook enjoy a lot, and my friends, when they see it, always ask about the wallpapers or look and feel :D
Well, its only a idea to give more good points for the Ubuntu.
Thats all!!
