The two TeX distributions in Ubuntu cannot properly coexist and many packages incorrectly depend on a specific one of those making it impossible to keep the other one installed. This should be fixed.
Currently a number of solutions are proposed. When a solution has been decided upon, all the technical stuff will be filled in.
