Provide a mostly upstream GNOME session

Registered by Martin Pitt

We provide an easy way for users and developers to get a "mostly GNOME upstream" (vanilla) session with only very few Ubuntu modifications (some brown crumbs). This will allow developers to test their software in a GNOME environment as well as in the Ubuntu Desktop, which has some different parts (notifications, messaging indicators, etc.).

2009-02-18 pitti: Proposed minimally-intrusive solution for Jaunty, after discussion with DX team. Please review.

2009-02-18 pitti:
 - Created https://launchpad.net/stracciatella-session, got that package implemented, packaged, uploaded
 - fixed notify-osd to be co-installable with notification-daemon

2009-02-18 seb128: the described changes seem reasonable, approving the spec

2009-02-18 pitti:
 - fixed notify-osd to respect $GDMSESSION
 - stracciatella-session is in the archive now (universe)

2009-02-19 pitti:
 - IM gets silenced under stracciatella session in indicator-applet indicator-applet_0.1.1-0ubuntu2. This covers the remaining point, setting to "Beta available".

2009-02-25 pitti: added release note and test plan, set to implemented.
