SMP & SMT Kernels with corresponding restricted & unrestricted modules

Ubuntu 7.10 came without support for SMT (Hyperthreading). Also the -server image lacks a corresponding server-
Although one could build them on their own machine it is a time consuming tedious job, that requires high technical skills (think of choosing the options from the kernel build menu).
And even of one managed to build and install a custom kernel, he still has to look for restricted modules and maybe build stuff for them too.
To satisfy the needs of some of the Ubuntu users who understand what a kernel is and what consequences a kernel change has these things should be available from the official Ubuntu repositories.
