Share Swap Partitions with Windows Virtual memory etc.

Registered by John Bradley Bulsterbaum

Considering thise spec: https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/filesystem-agnosticism/+edit, make Ubuntu file-system neutral on swap partitions so that Windows and Ubuntu can share them: Windows for virtual memory, and Ubuntu for Swap. Particularly consider, maybe, using RAW partitions, though this seems to be hard to get working in Windows: so make sure Ubuntu really is file-system agnostic.

Also, consider how Windows uses space for virtual memory, for instance, if it needs to write a special system file which, if erased, would mess-up Windows, then make sure Ubuntu either uses that file itself (non-destructively) or writes around it, or replaces it. I've heard of a lot of people attempting this: they don't want to have inaccessible partitions while using one OS or the other!

Features like this are just nice touches that could turn-on certain people who are concious of certain particulars: especially those who want to use everything efficienty. : )
