To add an option in the GUI to choose which soundcard to be card0

Registered by mattegeniet

There is no simple way for users to choose which card they would like to be card0, card1, etc. This would be a good thing, because when someone uses multiple soundcards, it's random, each time he/she starts his/her computer, which sound card will be card0, and because of that, sound will work sometimes and sometimes not.

It's a very simple idea. Add a feature to System -> Preferences -> Sound, where you get a list of your soundcards (equal to those listed when typing "cat /proc/asound/modules") and then is able to choose which one to be card0, card1 etc. Practicly this is done by editing "/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base" and adding "options <module-name> index=<cardnumber (e.g.0)>" to the end of the file. This is hard for someone with limited knowledge, and can therefore help lots of people with multiple soundcards to easily configure their cards. Today they have to go the other way around, and may result in them returning to windows.
