In real world deployment, vlan is being user broadly, without vlan configuration during installation, its not convenient, so would it be necessary to enable vlan configure.

[Aron] This has been discussed at Debian, and there are some patches around. The most important things are: 1) enabling 8021q module in d-i kernel, 2) enable 802.1q support in busybox that comes along with d-i, 3) patch netcfg to enable setting VLANs.
