While proprietary systems exist from some established players (eg, Documentum from EMC), Alfresco is an excellent open source alternative.

Given that tomcat6 and the Java stack are now part of the Ubuntu server, it should be quite possible to package alfresco3 for Ubuntu, and establish Ubuntu as a convenient server for the deployment of a completely open source content management system.

Discussion Points:
 * Open Source content managers
  * alfresco seems to be best-of-breed...any others out there?
 * Dependencies
  * alfresco mostly depends on java + tomcat, dive a bit deeper into this, gather any other libraries or dependencies that need to be packaged as well

dendrobates - I think this is an excellent idea. A perfect integration project.

Suggested Deliverables from UDS Session:
 1) Package an appropriate version of alfresco for Karmic universe
 2) Update the drupal6 package, and provide more active maintainance
