Removal of button icons in default GNOME theme

The words "OK" and "Cancel" are symbols by themselves. No picture is needed, especially when that picture is too abstract (as in the icon for cancel - an arrow turning counterclockwise).
Because some default GNOME buttons contain icons, they become very big so as to allow for padding. They become clutter on the screen and do not make the interface any friendlier, only clunkier and uglier. They are distracting.
The removal of button icons in the default GNOME theme will improve the overall appearance of Ubuntu without detracting usability.
Note that this is only in button icons (for example, the tick beside 'ok' or cross beside 'close').
