Ensure Disk Space

Registered by John Bradley Bulsterbaum

A user might format their computer to separate home from the Operating system; maybe to share home with another OS too. This means a smaller space in which the OS and its programs sit: and sometimes it means running-out of space after updates and program installs. Of course the user *can* re-size partitions; I propose, though, that the system's package managers ought to move leave links which refer to other locations for packages which would exceed the space. For example, the Home folder could have a hidden one in which the extras go, still organized, on that other partition. This way users don't encounter such a situation as running out of OS/program space!
