Payable upgrade of Ubuntu LTS applications

Problems / Goals:
- there is no possibility to upgrade applications through apt, even by LTS versions of Ubuntu this feature is not available. The reason for this may be additional costs, but Ubuntu is free of any charge
- profitability of Ubuntu

Possible solution:
- offering of payable upgrades for some applications and system parts within Long Term Supported Ubuntu versions.

Target group:
- normal PC users without expert know how like compiling, repositories, installing with *.tar etc.
- other users that wish to 99.99% guaranteed successfully update of applications within Ubuntu LTS versions
Also all that will use an Ubuntu PC primary as tool for common daily tasks: "it must just work", simple ;-)

Use cases:
- John is no linux expert and want a stable distribution like Ubuntu LTS, but with the possibility to upgrade applications like Firefox, OpenOffice etc. to newer versions. He is disposed to pay a charge for this.
- Mary is no linux expert and has a PC with new hardware, so a core LTS version doesn't support this. She buys this support or an advanced Ubuntu DVD with enhanced linux kernel
- Sam is a software developer (and possibly a linux expert), he want to have a stable development environment with actual tools like Eclipse, Subversion, Apache etc. He is disposed to pay a charge for this as well he want to support financial Ubuntu.
- the "Any Ltd." corporation want to have actual software (in order to use cases above) but without distribution upgrades. It buys additional upgrade service for an Ubuntu LTS version.
- each hundred thousand of subscriptions gets enough money for 20-40 Ubuntu developers (if charge is for example 10-20 EUR per annum per PC)

*Important*: the software remains open source, so that the only service will be payable, not the software itself!
