More stable VM solution for running armel VMs
The currently shipped qemu in ubuntu x86 is rather unstable to run ARM VMs. Linaro uses qemu-maemo from their own PPA when running their images, as it has a better omap support. Would be desirable to work with Linaro determining the best qemu branch to be used with ARM images, and switch our tools (i.e. rootstock) to use the proper qemu package instead of relying on qemu-kvm.

Whiteboard
Work Items (natty-alpha-2):
[jani] Check with pmaydell what is the best branch and timing to package Linaro's qemu-arm git tree ( pmaydell says we should use the qemu-maemo gitorious tree, the same that is packaged in the linaro ppa. Upstream QEMU may not contain good enough ARM support in time for 11.04): DONE
Work Items (natty-alpha-3):
[rsalveti] once omap3 is suported by the new package make sure kernel team drops versatile support: DONE
[vorlon] new source package to provide all non-x86 archs which are now provided by qemu-kvm: DONE
