PackageVersionConflicts between Debian and Ubuntu

Registered by Stephan Ruegamer on 2005-10-19

The question was, when we package new software which is not in Debian already, should we use -0ubuntu1 in our version, or should we use the normal Debian standard (-1).
We have to discuss the impact for syncing and merging etc.

Proposal was made by sabdfl.

Whiteboard

This spec needs to be written; there has been some discussion and a basic agreement on conventions, but it needs to be documented
