Possible migration mode for gnome-shell

Registered by Tim Lunn

Many new users feel a little lost when they first use gnome-shell. One possible idea is to provide a 'migration' mode consisting of carefully selected set of extensions[1] that bring back some of the gnome 2 like features. This would be combined with a simple UI to enable migration mode and as users realise they no longer need certain features, they can disable the relevant extensions. I don't think we would enable this mode by default, however it should be very easy to enable.

It is possible that upstream might implement something like this if they go ahead with dropping classic/fallback mode.
