Pop up window - asking prefered action

In windows when you pop a cd in or any device that needs an application to run.... A message pops, asking to select a preferred action
ie "open with" a program ie real player, winamp etc

This would be nice addition to ubuntu, because people dont right click "open with", i would like a prompt asking me what to do....(then select a default application for that type of media if i want)

For example, when a cd is put into ubuntu sound juicer by default loads, but if i want rhythbox to play music i have right click, select rythmbox....(a long winded process)
It would be better if there was a prompt with suggested application (so i can pick one application, and select a default if i like)

If they then select a default application it would then automatically load up that application next time round!
