have network card names in network admin in addition to eth0 eth1 names

Can we have network card names such as manufacturers name appear in addition to the current eth0 eth1 style in future network admin/manager (Hardy)? I think this well help people like me who are constantly changing the markup of their computers from doing some guess work as to which NIC is now eth0 after a reboot or something that affects configurations.
