This exactly what I was looking for. The idea of using quiet in menu.lst for usplash to display boot messages is (to say the least ) an ugly hack. There should be a neat mechanism to configure how usplash works. AFAIK, currently there is no mechanism by the means for plain text file to control the working of usplash. It would be nice if this is implemented by the time of gusty release release.
