Automate laptop configuration like ndiswrapper for nic. Config of touch pad, etc.

I saw a script that some one made for Ubuntu 6.10 that configured my Dell laptop. It dowloadet the driver for the wireless, optimized the sceen, touchpad and so on.
It wold be nice if there was configuration scrips available for more laptops (like the damn Asus laptop i recommended my sister to buy, with the damn Atheros chip for Wifi that I'm not getting to work).
So a colletion of configuration scrips for different laptops (or stationary computers) would be really nice to take care of installation of ndiswrapper, special drivers etc.
Those scripts can ofcourse be removed later on when thing will work automatically after an installation.
