L2TP is the default encryption in Microsoft ISA and TMG (Thread Management Gateway) for ex. with a IPsec preshared key or certificate. Half the world use that solution...
In Windows, OS X and even Android it is easy to set up, but not Ubuntu. It would be nice if L2TP/IPSec VPN with PSK, was integrated in NetworkManager, so it was simple to set up.
