smarter kubuntu-desktop install with synaptic

Registered by Janbockaert

When installing the kubuntu-desktop package with synaptic in ubuntu, your gnome desktop will change. The install (of kdm?) does ask if you want to keep using gdm, but it does change unasked the u-splash and much worse, gtkrc will change the gnome theme, and (at least at my desktop) even crash the gnome-settings-deamon if you want to change the theme back.

gtkrc can be very usefull if you only work with kde, but if you switch between the two desktops, gtkrc will create a lot off trouble in gnome.

It would be great, if next release, when you install kde in ubuntu, you would not loose your ubuntu u-splash and your gtk-themes anymore.
