Making the desktop a multi purpose, virtual folder.

Make the desktop have no content but only buttons that change which folder the desktop displays.
For instance:
A big music button: makes the desktop display the contents of my music folder.
A big movie button: makes the desktop display the contents of my movie folder, or even go further and display my movie catalog.
Basically, eliminate the desktop as a simple folder and make it more of a portal to your information.
