A way for the installer to gracefully fail in case the apt-get mirrors appear reachable, but end up busy or fail.

There should be a graceful way for the installer to fail, report the results, and continue on without waiting forever for the mirrors to timeout. Especially in the case of a just-released new version, mirrors are crowded and slow and cause sometimes very painful installs. Maybe always give the user a chance to refrain from even trying the mirrors, with an explanation note.
