GUI for installind different desktop environments

Registered by Jon Reagan

A GUI for the installation of the other desktop environments used by the Ubuntu project. (e.g. KDE, XFCE) This GUI program would include a basic window with the different options for desktop environments, including a small screenshot and a description. An "Apply" and Cancel button would be needed as well. After changes are made, the "Apply" button would activate, and if you click on it, and behind the scenes, hidden from the user, "sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop" would be run and downloaded, preferably with a progress bar visible to the user, and would then install the desktop environment. I do not have th programming skills to start this project. I have talked to several users who would like a nice, graphical interface to install other desktop environments, so I felt the need to put this in the blueprints for the Hardy Heron release. This application would be available through the preferences panel or the "look and feel" theme control panel.
