GDM Upgrade

Registered by Ted Gould

GNOME has decided to change and base their GDM version on the 2.24 tree. This version of GDM has a more modular architecture which will allow for more desktop level daemons to run. Things like closing your laptop lid to sleep while at the login prompt.

Jaap Haitsma: Is this upgrade still going into jaunty?? -> Pitti: no, this is preparatory work for Karmic

Jaap Haitsma: Should this not be nominated for Karmic?

Pitti: No, this is already implemented. We'll switch to the new gdm in karmic by default, though.
