Registered by Robbie Williamson on 2009-11-12

We need to fix the remaining issues that make it difficult to install and boot from an iSCSI root device.

We also need to make sure there is a test plan in place for ensuring this code works as designed.

Whiteboard

Work items for lucid-alpha-3:
Change /etc/init.d/networking to avoid stopping networking if the root filesystem is on iSCSI: DONE
Make sure to bring up the interface configured in netcfg in the initramfs: DONE
Work with QA team to develop a test plan: DONE
[apulido] Develop test plan: DONE

Work items for ubuntu-10.04-beta-1:
Chase down issues that cause iscsi.initramfs not to be written: POSTPONED

The worst of this has been resolved. There are still problems with setting up the network boot, which we should fix eventually, but for the meantime these are amenable to documentation. See http://testcases.qa.ubuntu.com/Install/ServeriSCSIRoot/KVMExample (not documentation, but a potential source of it).
