2009-06-12: What was the outcome of this discussion? Are there expectations of work during the Karmic cycle by the Ubuntu Foundations team to help make this happen? -robbie.w
2009-06-15: we talked about that landscape can parse http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/meta-release and then download the upgrade tool and run it with "--frontend DistUpgradeViewNonInteractive". The only current problem is that n case of error the maintainer script that failed is re-run with debug option (NonInteractive is right now mainly used for debugging, but this can be fixed easily)
2009-06-15: hmm...smells like a deferral to me.
2009-06-16: it is a "informal" spec I guess - I will do the required code changes, the scope is small, all that needs to be done is to add a option to disable the debug code
2009-07-09: current update-manager in karmic should be ready. Calling "do-release-upgrade -f DistUpgradeViewNonInteractive" (and --devel-release as long as karmic not released) will DTRT. Let me know if there is anything else that you need.
