Ubuntu One in the Ubuntu installation process
Ubuntu One is a suite of services that Canonical is offering to the public. We'd like to include a small checkbox in the installer (possibly on the user information screen) that would be labeled "Setup Ubuntu One" that will pop a web browser post install that will walk the user through setting up their existing or new Ubuntu One account & services.

Whiteboard
* How about adding the option to Ubuntu One to save various configuration settings/profiles (for example on my current machine) and to offer import them during the installation of the new machine? So I'd get completely configured machine right out of the box.
Such configurations may include .rc files, firefox profiles and bookmarks, themes, etc. It may also have a plug-in infrastructure so other applications configurations could be added later on.
That's exactly the kind of thing that migration-assistant does. However, this is hardly the place for feature requests. Please use http://

Evan, I agree about feature request, but wouldn't it have legitimate reason to appear here as well? -- Alex
No, because feature requests should either be filed as wishlist bugs or brought up on Brainstorm. Specifications are for defining work you plan to do yourself, or for defining work that someone else, whom you have coordinated with, will do. Besides, it's out of scope for this specification which deals with integrating an option to install Ubuntu One post-install in the installer.
I suggest filing a bug against Ubuntu One (https:/
The feature request is a great idea, although it might be more than we can get done in time for karmic. Alex, I've filed a bug here: https:/
I've marked this blueprint as obsolete. The Ubuntu One team will be registering several new blueprints based on work we plan to do for Lucid.
