Choose a custom file browser in 'Preferred Applications' dialog

in Ubuntu, 'Nautilus' is executed every time I want to open a directory (Documents, Desktop, etc). But Nautilus has its quirks, and many people prefer to run other applications (as an example, 'pcman' is just fine for files management). I think that it would be beneficial to the users, being able to choose a preferred file browser program.
