There was a idea to make in the installation a list with your standard programs. You create to a expert mode to install packages separate from each other. So you can create a complete personal desktop below the installation.
Debian has a graphical Expert mode to do something special things. My idea was to integrate Synaptic in such of a expert mode for Ubuntu with the same functions as the Debian Graphical Expert Installer. So you can create your own program list
