Eliminate not easy-to-use apps (the Terminal)
Why Ubuntu comes with a Terminal app?
Ubuntu is user friendly, and the Terminal is not user friendly, and directly; the Terminal is for advanced users. Like GIMP in the past, it was deleted in the default installation.
If a advanced user need the Terminal, that user know that the Terminal exist: Go to Software Center and install that app.

Whiteboard
Well, I think if I don't see Terminal in a Linux distro I will definately keep looking to other places until I find it. I think I won't easily think that it may not be pre-installed and go install it. Another thing is, most of terminal users prefer to install applications from terminal.
I think this may cause confusion.
And this is my first day in Launchpad and I feel like I am typing these comments to wrong textbox :)
